About the Author
Shannon Richard grew up in the Florida Panhandle as the baby sister of two overly protective but loving brothers. She was raised by a more than somewhat eccentric mother, a self-proclaimed vocabularist who showed her how to get lost in a book and a father who passed on his love for coffee and really loud music. She graduated from Florida State University with a BA in English Literature and still lives in Tallahassee where she battles everyday life with writing, reading, and a rant every once in a while. Okay, so the rants might happen on a regular basis. She's still waiting for her Southern, scruffy, Mr. Darcy, and in the meantime writes love stories to indulge her overactive imagination. Oh, and she's a pretty big fan of the whimsy.

Beautiful, sexy, and utterly sweet!!

Unforgettable is a story about what happens AFTER the amazing summer romance, and it brings the reader the painful truth of how crushing it can be when it doesn’t last. Hannah had a summer with Shep that swept her away and stole her heart forever, and when she left for college she was leaving a part of herself behind. But one single moment stole any chance of her thinking that what they had was more to him than a summer fling, and for thirteen years she avoided him and the vacation inn where all of the magic happened. Until her deceased sweet grandmother gave her the nudge from beyond the grave that she needed to face her past (yeah, I love grandma Gigi and she wasn’t even alive for the story!!).

Hannah and Shep have great chemistry the moment we see them together, but it’s what’s behind that fire that really lost me to this beautiful story. It was the intensity of those three months they’d shared all those years ago, the pent-up pain and frustration they both felt over being forgettable to each other, and the connection that tied them beyond space and time apart. Even without being privy to their summer together, you’d feel how much these two were meant to be each other’s forever, and it was just beautiful watching them find their way back. It wasn’t easy, because Hannah was holding onto her secret and a lot of resentment over Shep seeming to have moved on so quickly after she left. They crushed each other without even knowing it. Seeing the pain both of them went through after that initial separation was heart-wrenching, and you just want so badly for them to grab on and never let go! I admit, there were moments where it brought tears to my eyes seeing their pain, GAH!

Of course with all the awesome sparks flying between these two, their chemistry led to some glorious steamy scenes that I devoured! Shep is just soooo yummy, and Hannah was only capable of exerting so much will power. Thank god, because her moments of weakness are our moments of HELL, YEAH!, and they were perfect.

This was the first read from the Country Roads series for me, and this reviewer is definitely impressed! I look forward to reading more of Shannon Richard’s work and getting more of the awesome characters we meet in this heartwarming, sexy story!

Quotes:

“I hear you on the other side. So why don’t you just open up and let me in?”
“Or what? You huff and you’ll puff?”
“You scared I’m gonna blow your house down?”
You already did. ~Loc 778

She lifted her hands above her head and spun around slowly in what she hoped came off as a seductive move. Based off the way Shep’s eyes dilated when she looked at him, she figured she’d succeeded.
“I’m sorry. My brain short-circuited for a second there. Could you please do that again?” ~Loc 3043

Second chance romance at its best!
By Kimmy
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Until I saw this book on Netgalley, I was not aware of the "Country Roads" series. I read the synopsis and it seemed like a book I would like, since I enjoy second chance romance storylines. I fell in love with all the characters in this book and I will definitely be reading the previous books. I need to know all their stories!

Hannah and Shep spent the summer together thirteen years ago in Mirabelle, Florida. While they were only together for three months, it was a very intense three months. Despite the fact that their relationship ended badly, these two never forgot each other and thirteen years later they are back in each others lives.

Hannah has become a successful lawyer in New York, while Shep has inherited the family business and stayed in Mirabelle. Even after thirteen years these two have off the charts chemistry. I highlighted so much of this book that it was hard to come up with something to quote. But then I started thinking about the things I liked best about the book and Shep's honesty came to mind. From the very beginning he made it very clear that he wanted Hannah back. He knew that having Hannah back in his life was a chance he couldn't waste. Of course Hannah is hesitant to start things up with Shep again and she sends him lots of mixed signals. Shep had the patience of a saint and I kept worrying that eventually he would give up on her. These two seemed to be made for each other and I wanted them to work it out.

Towards the end of the book Shep discovers the secret Hannah has been hiding and it almost destroys him. He gets drunk, shows up on Hannah's doorstep and proceeds to break my heart:

“I love you.”

“I know. I love you, too.”

“So why? Why do you keep hurting me?”

“Shep.” She reached up to touch his face, but he turned away from her, gently grabbing her hand and pulling it away.

“What did I do?” he asked, sitting up. “What did I do wrong?”

“Nothing.” She shook her head, running her hands up his shoulders and pulling his shirt from his arms.

He let her slip it off, and when his hands were free, he reached up, touching her face. “Then why can’t I have you?”

“You can. Shep, I—”

“Don’t leave me.” He leaned in, burying his face in her neck as his arms wrapped around her. “Please, Hannah. Don’t leave me.” His voice cracked, and tears hit her skin.

“I’m not going to.” She wrapped her arms around him, running her hands up and down his back.

“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”

*Cue me crying like a baby.*

I think the unsung hero of the book is Hannah's deceased grandmother Gigi. I like to think that she knew exactly what she was doing when she sent Hannah back to Mirabelle. Hannah refers to Gigi as her best friend multiple times during the book and it seems as though Gigi knew Hannah better than Hannah knew herself. SMART LADY! I just wish we got more of her in this book.

I'm excited to go back and read about Shep's friends and how they found love. I loved the banter between all of them and I want to get to know them better.

Emotional roller coaster
By Amazon Customer
Hannah has to return to Mirrabelle, Florida. She spent one summer there over ten years ago. She fell in love, and she had her heart broken. Shep, the one who broke her heart, has drawn her in again. She keeps resisting.

The past is not really what either one of them think it is. Both of them has dealt with a lot of heartache. Can they forgive, accept, and love?

I really loved the characters. I question whether or not a love could really last ten years without seeing each other, but it is a nice thought. I guess you just have to believe in romance.

This book both made me laugh and cry--while reading in public. Anyway, this is an emotional roller coaster that I thoroughly enjoyed. By the way, the sex was awesome. I look forward to a sequel.
